IMATS 2011 Bucket List
IMATS is almost here! I really regret not exhibiting this year, but potential scheduling problems kept me from being able to renew my booth a year in advance. Now it turns out that I would have had the dates free - bummer. On the positive side, at least this year I'll be able to shop the floor - last year, we were lucky to be able to squeeze in potty breaks. I try to justify missing the

Theme Song for The Makeup Show LA: ♫ I Had The Time of My Life ♫
For years, I've been attending The Makeup Show, and after returning from this weekend's festivities, I really have to say that this year was the best one ever. I think I even came home on a bigger high than I did from exhibiting at IMATS, lol.Though the show has always billed itself as more of a boutique pro-only show (imagine this: the line to pay at MUFE was no longer than 5 minutes), this year

Coming This Weekend: 3 Days of Makeup Porn!
It's coming, it's coming! I can't wait for the end of the week, when The Makeup Show will be in LA. I love this show. Because it's a pro-only event, it's not the mob scene that IMATS can be. Billed as more of a boutique show, one really gets an opportunity to meet and talk to key makeup artists, brand creators. In additon to the regular show days (Saturday and Sunday), there will be a pre-show

Out of the Beauty Box - An Insider's View
Last weekend, I had the opportunity to help Koren (aka Enkore Makeup) and Elessa (aka Pursebuzz) with their first Out Of The Beauty Box tour in Los Angeles. I had a lot of fun, even if my sole purpose was to be the demonstration model for applying makeup to "Old Lady" skin, lol.I spent a good deal of time tweeting about the class and sending lots of pictures to TwitPic, and was suprised at how

OMG, D-Day is here!
I've been prepping for nearly 3 months for this weekend. IMATS is finally here! I cannot even begin to describe how I've been feeling the last 48 hours. I sway from extremely excited to petrified and near meltdown almost minute by minute. The car is loaded, and I'm as ready as I'm ever going to get. For those of you who are attending this show (which, by the way, is the largest attended IMATS

MIA Updates
Wow, it's been an awful long time since I last posted - even for me! I've been consumed with "all IMATS, all the time", ha ha. I haven't done a post in months not because I couldn't think of what to write (well, yeah, that too), but because I've been a very busy little bee. I'm afraid to count, but I've packed somewhere in the neighborhood of 2,000 jars of product in prep for this internationally

Putting On Our "Big Girl" Pants
Everyone who reads this blog knows I attend every type of makeup and suppliers show I can possibly find. I've attended The Makeup Show, Cosmoprof, IMATS, and countless supplier's conventions.Lawd, have mercy. I'm doing more than attending a show.I'm going to be exhibiting at IMATS in Los Angeles! For those of you unfamiliar with IMATS, it stands for the International Make-up Artist Show, and is

The Makeup Show 2010: There's a Theme Here...
I went to this year's Makeup Show with 4 goals in mind: Learn. Talk. See. Try.Ok, make that 5 things in mind: Learn, Talk, See, Try, BUY. I realize that the combination of both my ancient age and having my own line, I have tunnel vision. I went to learn what's hot in the industry, learn what's new and upcoming, learn what the pros are looking for, and learn new techniques and applicataions. The

Countdown To: The Makeup Show LA 2010
There's only less than two weeks left until The Makeup Show begins in LA! I'm really looking forward to this year's show - more so than last year, where I was deathly afraid of speaking on the blogger's panel and sounding like a complete and utter idiot (which fortunately, I pulled off ok - check out how it went last year on this post).I'll be attending a special blogger's preview the day prior

How I $pent my weekend...
Most of my beauty blogger pals have been attending New York Fashion Week, making me envious of the hob-nobbing and parties with every well known brand on the planet, getting treated like royalty (one even winning a necklace from Tiffanys!), while I toil away.OK, I can't feel too sorry for myself. I spent (literally, as in moolah) Saturday attending a Spa & Esthetics show. By the time I left, I

I'm Baaaack!
I had a fantastic time in Vegas at Cosmoprof. My feet were killing me from all the walking, and the heat hit as high as 122 degrees while driving there, but it was well worth it! I actually got to meet the owners of some of the companies I use as vendors (waves hi to Karen), scouted out some potential new items (I'm testing them now), and finally got to meet some of my favorite beauty bloggers (

What Goes On In Vegas...
Betcha thought I was up to something fishy, huh? Actually, I'm up to something good!Cosmoprof is the largest industry trade show for the beauty, spa, and hair industries. It's all happening beginning this weekend in Las Vegas, and I'll be attending. It's a wonderful chance for me to source some potential new vendors, see what's up and coming that looks cool, and meet in "3D" some of the great

A Day at IMATS
After the fantastic time I had at The Makeup Show, I was really looking forward to attending this year's IMATS (International Makeup Artists Trade Show) show. It was quite a bit different than I had imagined it would be.My first clue should probably have been the date of the 2 day long show: Father's Day weekend. Immediately, it became a one day show for me, even though I had a two day pass.

The Makeup Show LA (with pics)
Yesterday's Makeup Show in LA was an absolute blast! More importantly, I didn't make a complete fool of myself as a participant in the Blogger's Forum, hosted by Elke Von Freudenberg. The seats were full enough that you'd think they came to hear Billy B speak! It was especially nerve-racking for me, as I was joined on stage by Elke, Felicia of ThisThatBeauty (who was listed in OnMakeup as one of

Meet Me At The Makeup Show In LA
Wow! I've been invited to participate in the Blogger's forum at the Makeup Show in LA this weekend. Don't tell anyone, but I'm really, really nervous. What if I sound like a dolt?Regardless, I'm honored to be invited to participate by the Queen of the Beauty Blog Network, Elke Von Freudenberg to participate in the Blogger's Forum at The Makeup Show on Sunday, March 15th. The Makeup Show is making
