Actifirm: First Impressions
Recently, my good friend Felicia from ThisThatBeauty gave my name to the folks at Actifirm as being someone who may have some interest in trying their products. Felicia is all about skin care, and she knows that although I'm a kid at heart, my face is certainly not going along with the plan. I'm one of those who just can't bring themselves to do Botox (besides the fact that I'd need so much no

We're in People Magazine!!!
Do you recognize this VIP? Yes, that is the one and only Vice-President of the United States. Why am I so excited about an article on Joe Biden? Because the grooming for the photo shoot was done by makeup artist Victoria Stiles, who used our Skin Smoothing Foundation (he's a blend of Calif Blonde and Neutral Medium, if you were wondering) and Diamond Perfect Finish. Purely Cosmetics, worn on one

August: The Good, The Bad, and the UGLY
Boy, has this been a tumultous month! I've been so flattered to have my products selected as monthly favorites, but the website is still not functioning. Starting with the good stuff...Professional makeup artist and blogger Crystal Strayer (who I personally feel is one of the prettiest people on the planet) lists her Favorite August Beauty Products today, and our Diamond Perfect Finish is the

MIA Updates
Wow, it's been an awful long time since I last posted - even for me! I've been consumed with "all IMATS, all the time", ha ha. I haven't done a post in months not because I couldn't think of what to write (well, yeah, that too), but because I've been a very busy little bee. I'm afraid to count, but I've packed somewhere in the neighborhood of 2,000 jars of product in prep for this internationally

The Makeup Show 2010: There's a Theme Here...
I went to this year's Makeup Show with 4 goals in mind: Learn. Talk. See. Try.Ok, make that 5 things in mind: Learn, Talk, See, Try, BUY. I realize that the combination of both my ancient age and having my own line, I have tunnel vision. I went to learn what's hot in the industry, learn what's new and upcoming, learn what the pros are looking for, and learn new techniques and applicataions. The

My Peepers Love This: High Potency Eye Lift
There are two things about my body that I really, really don't like. Everything below my waist (if I could walk behind a counter for the rest of my life, I'd be one happy camper), and my eyes that are in serious need of plastic surgery. I've always struggled with hooded eyelids, but after several anniversaries of my 21st birthday, I've learned to live with those. I just drool at the gals who can

Overwhelmed, Grateful and Thankful!
I'm still out of town enjoying my Costa Rican vacation, where my internet connection is spotty at best, the mosquitos are aplenty, and the scenery is gorgeous - but I'd do a proper blog post on that later. While I DO have a connection, I wanted to express my gratitude to so many who have listed my products as their Top Picks for 2009. Wanting to keep this brief to get it written before I lose my

PRODUCT REVIEW: Korres Natural Products
Awhile back, I was contacted by Korres, who liked the fact that I was concerned with my cosmetics being natural. I guess they missed the fact that I mostly blog about my own products, but they wanted to know if I was willing to receive some of their natural skin products, and to perhaps post a review, if I so chose. "Sure", I said, why not get some free stuff? It made me feel like a "real

Blogger Product Review Uproar
The blogging world has been a focus of major controversy in the last couple of days. It began on Sunday, with an article published by the AP Newswire that the FTC plans to monitor blogs for claims and payments. The opinion held by the FTC is that "Many bloggers have accepted perks such as free laptops, trips to Europe, $500 gift cards or even thousands of dollars for a 200-word post. Bloggers

Want To Feel Really Good Inside?
You might remember a post I made at the beginning of May that the blog A Girl's Gotta Spa was hosting a "Mom Get Glamorous" sweepstakes for one lucky and deserving mom. That winner of nearly $2300 worth of girlie stuff was announced last Friday. Trina Davidson was absolutely shocked to hear that her husband had entered her in the contest, and more floored to find out she had won! Check out her

Mineral Makeup on Camera High Def?
I first met Melissa Street at the Makeup Show in LA when I was part of the beauty blogger's panel. Melissa is a professional makeup artist (check out her work at http://www.epicmakeup.com/) veteran of 20 years, and specializes in High Definition and special effects makeup. It's no secret that most mineral makeup does not photograph well. The zinc oxide and titanium dioxide that isn't visible to

I Made The "Top Picks"!
I think my single biggest challenge so far has been matching the Decorative Diva Phyrra's skin tone. She has such a mix of both undertones and overtones, that it took what seemed to be a million stabs before we got it right. In the meantime, she had a much easier time with my eye shadows (Soft Moon and Emerald City being two of her fav's). Check out this look she did with Soft Moon, Silver, and

My Manners Suck!
So many wonderful bloggers out there have done fabulous reviews of my products, and although I'm quick to add them to my media page, Facebook, and stumble them, I've been remiss in thanking them properly on this blog as well. Without you guys, I'd have no business to speak of, and I appreciate all you've done for me.Jami, my wonderful supporter from Bionic Beauty, who's reviews and mentions of

We've Partnered! Want Bath & Body/Skincare Products?
Having a natural makeup line, I frequently get requests from customers who want a similar option for skin care and/or bath & body products. I'm a firm believer in the saying "Jack of all trades - master of NONE." I don't do skin care. BUT... I've now partnered with a fantastic skin care line: Garden Girl Skincare.Garden Girl's products are free from parabens, petroleum and mineral oil based

Semi-Scientific Experiment: UDPP vs PurelyCosmetics' Mineral Eye Shadow Sealant
After reading on virtually every beauty blog out there about eye shadow primers, and the overwhelming popularity of Urban Decay's Primer Potion, I strolled on over (OK, schlepped over - it's a 30 mile drive each way) to Sephora and bought some UDPP, along with Nars Orgasm blush to dupe. I liked the primer pretty well - despite the fact that I seem to be straying more and more away from all
